“I went under the water, and when I came up, the voices were gone”: A woman lived for two years with voices and hallucinations after a night of partying and substance use, but says they stopped the day she was baptized

Tarania Naidoo thought she had found something like the truth during a night of substance use amid the 2020 pandemic.

What she found was psychosis. This young South African woman, who had already spent time in clinics as a teenager and gotten into partying, drugs, tarot, and esotericism, was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

For two years, according to her account, she lived with panic attacks, distorted faces, and voices that would not leave her in peace. She says she felt like the most evil person on the planet and could not keep a job because she could not stand being around other people.

She sought refuge at a Hare Krishna temple, but says she found no freedom there either. Then she went to sleep at her grandmother’s house, a Christian woman who had been praying for her for some time. That same day, a friend called to ask if she could pray for her over the phone.

Tarania says that after an experience she considers supernatural, she left the movement, threw away her books and amulets, and was baptized.

She says that from then on, the voices disappeared. This is her personal testimony of faith. 🙏
