It was 2021, and the Argentine had just signed for PSG. The British singer was at the Parc des Princes in Paris, with Messi right in front of him. For a few minutes, he told him how much he admired him, praised him nonstop, and waited for an answer that never came. Messi, meanwhile, smiled politely, nodded, and didn’t understand a single word.
Until someone discreetly took Sheeran aside and whispered what he didn’t know: Leo doesn’t speak a word of English. According to Sheeran himself, he smiled the whole time without understanding.
Messi took it in good humor and posted a photo with him with a message that says it all: “Great to meet you, Ed, you legend!”. And the one who’s a true fan of the singer is Antonela Roccuzzo, who took Messi and their three children to see him in concert in Florida in 2023.
