Naomi Whitehead has just celebrated her 116th birthday and is officially the oldest living person in the United States. 🎂❤️ She was born on September 26, 1910, in Georgia, where she grew up on a farm helping her family pick cotton and tobacco.

During the celebration, one of her great-nieces asked how old she was, and Naomi replied naturally: “I think I’m 116”, prompting applause from those present. Over the course of her life, she married, had three children, and has watched several generations of her family grow up.

She currently lives in Pennsylvania and, with her age validated by organizations specializing in longevity, is also the second-oldest verified living person in the world, behind only Britain’s Ethel Caterham, who is 117 years old. 🎈
