Shea Petree does not recognize her own face in the mirror. A broken nose, possible facial reconstruction surgery, and a month without being able to work: that is the physical toll left by Easter weekend 2026 in her apartment in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

The alleged person responsible is Zackery Wise, her ex-boyfriend and the father of her children, with whom she had had an on-and-off relationship for nearly eight years. That night, Shea had told him he could stay for a moment, but not move back in. When the situation escalated, he told her he was going to kill her. Her children were in the home. She resisted. “I fought so hard”, she said afterward. It was the neighbors, by calling 911, who stopped the attack. Shea believes that without that intervention she would not have survived.

Wise fled, but did not get far. A bartender in Tahlequah recognized him from a social media post, verified his identity, and alerted police. Wise tried to escape toward a nearby wooded area, but he was captured next to a creek that same night of April 7.
