“I want my 50s back. I would do a lot more. At 50, whatever you have in mind, go for it. Do it now”- Brad Pitt, at 62 years old

The curious thing is that his 50s weren’t exactly wasted years: he starred in 11 films, produced 17, and even won an Oscar. And yet Brad Pitt feels he could have done much more.

At 62, the actor spoke with Esquire about the passage of time and that strange feeling of looking back on a decade and thinking about everything one put off until “later”.

That’s when he said: “God, I want my 50s back. I would do more. Your 50s are… man, whatever you have in mind, go for it. Do it now”.

And he seems to be taking his own advice quite seriously.

Pitt has just spent two and a half years working practically nonstop, the most intense continuous stretch of his career. After F1, he filmed Heart of the Beast, reprised his role as Cliff Booth in a new project written by Quentin Tarantino and directed by David Fincher, and recently finished The Riders.

He also said that now that several of the actors he admired when he was young are no longer around, he has begun to feel the passage of time differently. That generation he once saw as far removed from him was no longer that “cushion” of older people.

Perhaps that’s why, at 62, he doesn’t seem too interested in waiting for the perfect moment anymore. If he wants to try something, his philosophy now is pretty simple: do it while he still has time.
