Krysten Ritter grew up in Shickshinny, a rural town in Pennsylvania, as the tallest and thinnest girl in the class.
They made fun of her for it. And for years, she thought her body was a manufacturing defect, something that made her look awkward compared to everyone else. She did not know that those very long legs and that thinness that earned her uncomfortable looks were exactly what modeling agencies in New York were looking for.
She signed with Elite Model Management and Wilhelmina Models while still a teenager and ended up walking runways in Tokyo, Paris, and Milan.
Her leap into acting came almost by accident, through an audition for a Wendy’s commercial, and from there to becoming Jane Margolis in Breaking Bad and Netflix superheroine Jessica Jones. “When I became a model, even my friends were mean to me”.
In 2012, already well established, she summed it up bluntly: “I was bullied so much, but look at me now haha”.
