Aaron Crisler worked at Dollywood, not in a recording studio; he was part of the staff, one among hundreds of employees who keep the park running while thousands of tourists pass each day in front of the stage where the owner of it all sings.
Nobody knew him, and he didn’t expect anyone to know him either. But one day he worked up the courage to ask Dolly Parton for something that sounded impossible: to record a duet together.
She didn’t see it as a favor done out of obligation; she genuinely agreed, sat down with him, and recorded the song.
“I was nobody”, Aaron recounted later, still unable to fully explain why the most beloved woman in country music gave him that moment.
