Ebanie Bridges stepped onto the scales and everyone looked, but not at what she expected them to look at: her technique.
The Australian boxer, nicknamed ‘the Blonde Bomber’, appeared in lingerie at the weigh-in ceremony before her fight against Shannon O’Connell on December 9, 2022. It wasn’t the first time. She had already done it months earlier, and in 2021 that same decision cost her a chance to step into the ring against Shannon Courtenay and leave with her face disfigured by the blows.
“I was the first to weigh in wearing lingerie and received a great deal of backlash”, said Bridges, a former IBF world bantamweight champion. She insists she isn’t seeking scandal: she wants other women in boxing to feel free to do the same without being judged. 🥊
