A delicate oral-auditory health case exposes the serious latent dangers of using sharp objects for daily personal hygiene. The affected person, named Skye van Rensburg, 21 years old, initially injured her left eardrum by inserting a cotton swab while showering at home.

The patient, a resident of Winsford in the Cheshire region, immediately suffered stabbing pains that spread through her neck and constant tinnitus, a persistent perception of buzzing or noises in the ears, similar to the clashing of metal structures.

The situation affected her routine, preventing her from hearing her young son’s calls at night, until she went to an audiology center to have the earwax blockage removed.
