Jamie Ulshoffer just wanted to dance.
It was the night of September 18 at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky. She and her husband Conor were sitting near some trees, drowning out the noise from the Impact stage, when a branch suddenly gave way.
A man who had climbed up there fell in free fall and landed right on top of her. Jamie doesn’t remember the impact: her next memory is waking up in a hospital bed, with her spinal cord severed.
Today, she remains in intensive care at Louisville’s UofL Hospital. “I won’t be able to play with the children. I can’t feel my feet”, she said from her bed. Police ruled out criminal charges: according to them, it was an accident. Even so, Jamie bears no grudge over what a broken branch and someone else’s decision took from her. 💔
