Halsey was 23 and tired of people questioning her bisexuality.
On December 18, 2017, she posted a message on Twitter that spread like wildfire: “If I’m dating a guy, I’m straight, and if I’m dating a girl, I’m a lesbian. The only way to be a true bisexual is to date two people at once”.

She wrote it sarcastically, and with the frustration of someone who had spent years hearing that her orientation depended on who she was with at the time. In those days, she was dating rapper G-Eazy, and the relationship of the moment once again became the argument used to question her.

Actress Evan Rachel Wood, who is also bisexual, backed her up with another message: being in a relationship doesn’t erase your sexuality. If she dates a man, she is still attracted to women, and vice versa.
Halsey had come out in 2015 and had already talked about biphobia in interviews. That tweet said it all in a single line. How many times have you seen someone define another person solely by their partner?
