“If it doesn’t look like him, why spend so much”: the debate over the biggest Messi statue in the world unveiled in Argentina 🇦🇷

It took almost two years to finish it… and the internet tore it apart in two minutes. What do you think?

Cutral Co, a city in the Neuquén desert, has just unveiled the tallest Messi statue in the world: 26 meters of cement and steel with the Cup raised, planted along Route 22.

Two years of work by sculptor Aldo Beroisa. Hundreds of neighbors in albiceleste jerseys applauding. Mayor Ramón Rioseco promising tourists from all over the planet. 🏆

The problem: the internet has its own jury. While one side is bursting with pride —”what other country in the world does this for its idol?”— the other side has already posted ten memes and swears the face looks nothing like him. “They could have fixed the streets with that money”, someone wrote. “It’s missing the mustache”, said another. 😂

The internet comments went crazy but that doesn’t change the fact that it is the tallest Lionel Messi statue in the world. It’s a record!

An epic tribute to a world champion or the most expensive statue in Argentina with a strange pose? 👇
