“If you don’t feel jealous, you don’t really care”

A psychologist from Cornell University identified 12 thought patterns that turn jealousy into something destructive — and the list includes things many people do without realizing it 🧠. Some of them are: mind reading (“He thinks she is sexy”), fortune-telling (“She will be unfaithful”), or catastrophizing (“It would be terrible if my partner cheated on me”) are some of the thoughts.

On the side of those who defend it: “Feeling jealous is human; it means you care about losing what you love.” On the opposite side: “Jealousy does not protect the relationship, it suffocates it — and behind it there is always low self-esteem or fear of abandonment”, says psychologist Gabriela Martínez Castro, from CEETA in Argentina. The curious thing: the same study reveals that jealousy is not more intense at the beginning of love, but rather grows over time, when you have given yourself more completely. 😮

Do you consider it a sign of love or a problem that needs to be worked on?
