“If you harmed a child, you lost the right to an intact body”: Polish law requires chemical castration for offenders

Poland made it official: those convicted of abusing minors under 15 years old, or of sexual crimes against close relatives, must undergo chemical castration before regaining their freedom. A judge orders the hormonal treatment, which reduces sexual desire but also causes erectile dysfunction, loss of bone mass, and mood changes.

For some, it is the only real way to curb repeat offending and protect victims. For others, it is corporal punishment disguised as medicine that opens a dangerous door regarding the limits of the State over a person’s body.

Is it necessary justice or a precedent that no country should normalize?
