On December 13, 2025, Elon Musk posted a statement on X that left no one indifferent: “

“If you have a uterus, you are a woman; otherwise, you are not”.
Within hours, the post racked up tens of millions of views.

For some, it was a simple defense of biology. For others, a dangerous oversimplification that ignores cases such as MRKH syndrome, women without a uterus due to hysterectomy, or the distinction between gender identity and biological sex.

The statement did not come out of nowhere. One day earlier, the office of California Governor Gavin Newsom had responded to Musk’s criticism of pro-trans policies with a sharp message: “We regret that your daughter hates you, Elon”.

A direct reference to Vivian Jenna Wilson, Musk’s transgender daughter, with whom he has maintained a public and tense relationship since her transition.
