In 2018, Mizuki Takaraya decided to revisit one of the last memories she had of her mother: a dish of braised pork that her mother had prepared on the very day she suddenly died of a hemorrhage.
Mizuki and her father couldn’t eat it after her death, but they didn’t want to throw it away either. They put it in the freezer, where it remained for five years, until they asked the Japanese TV show *Detective! Knight Scoop* for help.

Before they tried it, the team called in a specialist to assess the food’s condition, and then a chef took charge of thawing and reheating it. When father and daughter finally tasted the dish, Mizuki recognized her mother’s cooking and burst into tears, while her father was also moved.

Five years after losing her, they were able to taste a meal she had made with her own hands once again. ❤️
