The Precious actress met Brandon Frankel on Raya, an exclusive dating app. Their first date lasted more than seven hours, and although Gabourey was initially afraid to trust in love, he kept showing her that she could feel safe by his side.
In an interview with People, Sidibe explained what that relationship changed in her: “I didn’t know the person I am today existed. And I only exist because of how much he loves me”. She also joked about her husband’s protective instinct: “He’d even fight his grandmother for me”.
Brandon doesn’t hide how he feels either. In 2020, when he announced their engagement, she described him as “the sweetest human being there is” and wrote: “My best friend proposed to me, and now I get to have him forever”.
They secretly married in 2021, in an intimate ceremony at their kitchen table, and welcomed their twins, Cooper and Maya, in 2024.
Their story doesn’t prove that love is perfect, but something much more valuable: that a couple can build a bond based on trust, respect, and room to grow without having to live to please others.
