Two earthquakes of magnitude 7.1 and 7.5 shook Venezuela on June 24, 2026 within minutes of each other. The stronger one is the largest quake recorded in the country since 1900, according to the USGS. Caracas was shaken, La Guaira was declared a disaster zone, and at least 164 people lost their lives while more than 1,000 were injured.
