Christopher Peden, 36, approached Fort Wayne, Indiana police, claiming that he had been stabbed downtown. It was May 6. Officers took him to the hospital without suspecting that version was only the first deception of the night.

There, amid sedatives and questions, Peden changed his story. He confessed that he had cut off his penis with a kitchen knife inside a garage separate from his mother’s house. Then, according to the affidavit, he doused the organ with gasoline and set it on fire on the garage floor before walking away until he encountered police.

Investigators collected a gasoline container, four lighters, and the knife as evidence. Court documents do not specify whether the remains were found at the scene. Peden was charged with arson, a Level 4 felony, and was held on $10,000 bail before being released. His attorney, David Feltz, said his client is stable.
