Inflammation can appear even in uncommon places, as seen in this case, where a finger shows extreme swelling, redness, and very tight skin.

At first glance, it could be mistaken for an abscess, a blow, an insect bite, or even a tumor. However, this type of lump is usually caused by the buildup of uric acid crystals in the joint, leading to pain, heat, and deformity over time.

In advanced stages, these deposits form masses called “tophi,” which can grow under the skin and deform the finger. In this case, the diagnosis corresponds to gout.
