It all started with one photo placed next to another.
Someone on Reddit noticed that the facial structure of Sydney Sweeney and Michael K. Williams, the actor who played Omar Little in The Wire, had a resemblance no one had pointed out before.
The post made its way to Facebook, and from there it didn’t stop: thousands of users started commenting “they look so much alike” and sharing side-by-side screenshots looking for the exact angle where the resemblance is most noticeable.
The curious thing is that at first glance they are two completely different people: different gender, different age, different career. But according to hundreds of comments, something in the proportions of their faces—the cheekbones, the gaze, the jaw structure—matches in a way that no one can fully explain.
Williams died in 2021, but thanks to this random comment, his face returned to the conversations of thousands of people who had not even seen The Wire.
