Barron Trump is 20 years old and had never been mentioned this way in Iranian propaganda.
The state-run broadcaster IRIB aired a nearly three-minute video that begins with a question in English: ‘Where to nab Barron Trump?’ It offers $10 million for him and shows places he frequents, including Trump Tower in New York and his university. The material also circulated in media outlets linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The United States Secret Service confirmed that it is investigating the recording. Nate Herring, a spokesperson for the agency, explained that they review any signal that could be interpreted as a threat against the people under their protection. Until now, the usual targets of this type of propaganda had been Donald Trump or Melania Trump. This time, for the first time, a son of the president is explicitly named in a video with a price placed on his life.
