Yu Tano is 22 years old and decided to help people who were affected by the Kumamoto earthquake. 🇯🇵
She donated 3 million yen, about $20,000, to the Japanese Red Cross. She did not stop there: together with a friend in Hiroshima, she put together boxes with drinks, hydration solutions, hygiene products, and diapers for families who lost everything. She said on X that every update about the disaster hurt her chest, and that although her contribution was small, she wanted to keep helping until people could return to their normal lives.
The response from part of the internet was not gratitude, but contempt. “It’s dirty money, but thanks”, someone wrote, noting that Tano works in adult films, as if that diminished the value of every dollar donated. She did not stay silent: “A donation is a donation”, she replied, making it clear that the only thing that matters is that the aid reaches those who need it. 💔
