Adrian Mannarino is a veteran tennis player who, at this point, no longer holds back when something bothers him, so after being eliminated, he said everything he thought about the US Open.
“You can smell marijuana on the court, there’s noise everywhere, this is turning into a zoo. These are truly unusual conditions to play under”, said the tennis player.
Mannarino took aim at the new, more flexible access rules for spectators at Flushing Meadows, which, according to him, are creating an increasingly chaotic atmosphere inside the stadium.
He did clarify, however, that the smell was not the reason for his defeat. The detail is not new: Zverev, Sakkari, and Ruud had already complained about the same thing since New York legalized recreational cannabis in 2021.
