In her interview with Allure, published in August 2023, the South African actress delivered a line that sums up decades of frustration: “I’ve always been bothered that men age like fine wines and women like cut flowers”.
With those words, she not only put the rumor to rest but also opened a discussion about how Hollywood measures the passage of time differently according to gender.
The curious thing is that Theron spoke about this while becoming the new face of Dior’s L’Or de J’Adore fragrance, after nearly 20 years representing the line.
She also shared that her metabolism hasn’t been the same since her role in Tully, and that her daughters, Jackson and August, don’t even associate beauty with age. For her, that’s already a small victory.
