What we normally know as the “clitoris” is barely its visible glans, considered for that reason a micropenis, but much of its structure extends around the genital area and remains hidden from view. An anatomical review published in Clinical Anatomy estimated that the whole structure can reach approximately 9 to 11 centimeters.
And it is not simply a small protuberance. Much of its components are made up of erectile tissue, which responds to arousal by increasing its blood flow. The glans also has abundant innervation and is connected to important nerve bundles.
