Momi Giardina stood in front of the camera on Nadie Dice Nada, Luzu TV’s program in Buenos Aires, and started walking hunched over, exaggerating gestures to imitate Erling Haaland, the Norwegian forward who is shining at the World Cup. Nicolás Occhiato, Martín Garabal, and Santiago Talledo were laughing out loud in the studio.

But outside the studio, the reaction was different. On X, thousands of users described the scene as racist and discriminatory, and the comparison was quick to appear: not long ago, Luzu TV had fired Florencia Peña for spreading fake news about Messi’s father.

The channel was already reeling from scandals, and this time it failed to dodge the wave of outrage. Critics are demanding explanations, and so far no one from Luzu TV has spoken publicly about what happened. Should there be a sanction?
