They didn’t dye it, they didn’t give it a makeover, and it’s not that they adopted another dog without telling anyone. It’s the same little dog, except that in two years it went from having black fur to looking almost completely white.
At first there were a few light spots, the kind that might not seem all that important. But then the white started gaining ground, first in small areas and then across much of the body, until it left him almost unrecognizable.
The reason appeared later: vitiligo, an uncommon condition in dogs in which the cells that produce pigment gradually stop working. That’s why dark fur can start to lighten in patches, as if the color were slowly fading over time.
Luckily, in most cases it tends to affect appearance more than health. The dog can keep living its normal life, with the same energy and personality as always, even if on the outside it looks like another dog.
But it’s still striking, because in a matter of months nature did its thing and turned the same little dog into a completely different version. Such a rare transformation that, if the photos weren’t there, it would be hard to believe it’s the same animal.
