Marc Cucurella sat down with Pau Brunet, host of the Paupautista podcast, who also has Autism Spectrum Disorder, and let his guard down. He spoke about his son Mateo in a way footballers rarely speak in front of a camera: without pretense, with a breaking voice.

He recounted the days in London when mainstream school was not working and Mateo cried nonstop. “It makes me suffer because sometimes I don’t know how we can help him”, he confessed, and the uncomfortable silence after the sentence said as much as the words. They were months of feeling lost, searching for answers that never came.

But amid that anguish, something emerged that not even the specialists had anticipated: his middle son discovered that singing to Mateo calmed him when anger overwhelmed him. A young brother who, without knowing it, became the best remedy in the house.
