Arturo Vidal held nothing back 🇨🇱
The Chilean midfielder came to Cristiano Ronaldo’s defense after his departure from Portugal’s national team and was emphatic: “It’s a disgrace”. In Vidal’s view, the forward is among the four greatest players in history, and for him to say goodbye to the national team this way is, in his words, “really ugly”.
The Chilean recalled that it was Cristiano himself who gave an interview explaining the situation and the options on the table, and that afterward the coach came out and publicly contradicted him. According to Vidal, that leaves him “looking very bad” and shows he was wrong in how he handled the issue. “Cristiano must be looked after, he must be protected”, he insisted, recalling that he was the player who took Portugal to another level.
Vidal clarified that no one is demanding that he play every minute, but that he shouldn’t be treated like just anyone: “Because he’ll never be just anyone”. And he pointed directly at Jorge Jesús: he didn’t know how to look after or manage the greatest Portuguese legend of all time 👀
