“I broke my collarbone”. With that, laughing, Sergio “Kun” Agüero let slip the phrase no one expected about Messi.
He was referring to the night he hoisted Lionel Messi onto his shoulders with the World Cup trophy amid the celebrations. “It was heavy, huh”, he admitted.
They were swept up in the euphoria and adrenaline of having won the World Cup, and amid the commotion, Leo came up to him with a very simple command: “Pick me up”. And that’s when the party started.
But the request didn’t end there. “At one point he says to me, ‘Let’s go over there.’ Wait, not so fast”, Kun recalled. Messi wanted to do a full lap of the pitch, and with all that weight on top of him, things got difficult.
Even so, he doesn’t regret it: “It was really lovely to be able to carry him”.
