Marcelo Bielsa spoke and left nothing standing. 😤 The Argentine coach of Uruguay’s national team lashed out at the organization of the 2026 World Cup, the tournament to be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, and he did so with a phrase that is already making the rounds in the football world: “Everyone complains about the facilities and the organization, about the training facilities and at the airports, as well as the detention of players, photographers, referees, coaches, and it will be the worst edition of the World Cup of all time.”

It is not the first time that ‘El Loco’ has gone all out against the American organizers. At the 2024 Copa América he had already described the playing fields as “unpresentable”. This time, however, the complaint goes further: he questions the chaos at airports, the conditions at the training centers and — most seriously — arbitrary detentions of people who are part of the tournament. A viral video of Senegal’s national team training on a field in terrible condition came along to prove him right. 📢

Bielsa has also long been warning that the 48-team format puts the quality of football at risk if rest periods are not respected. The tournament has not even started yet… and it is already on fire. ⚽🔥
