Hongmei Wang, a biologist in China, has a question that could change everything: what if menstruation did not come every month, but every three?

Her research explores exactly that. The idea is to slow the rate at which the egg reserve is depleted, using stem cell techniques and studies on premature ovarian insufficiency. If the body menstruates fewer times, it theoretically preserves more eggs and extends a woman’s fertile years 🧬

For now, the experiments are being conducted in animal models, but the ultimate goal is aimed directly at us: to give every woman more time and more control over her own fertility.
