Franco Colapinto arrived at the Hungaroring with his mind elsewhere. He wasn’t talking about engines or race strategies: he was talking about football, and he was furious.

The Argentine Alpine driver did not forgive the Spanish fans after the 2026 World Cup final, which Spain won 1-0 against Argentina. He sincerely congratulated his fellow grid drivers Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz, yes, but then he let out what was really burning inside him: a video of Spanish fans trying to burn a Lionel Messi shirt. “I’m really pissed off”, he confessed to journalist Juan Fossaroli, and he held nothing back: “Now all of a sudden they put on the shirt when they win, it’s a disgrace”.

He didn’t stop there. Colapinto even dared to take a humorous jab at them, asking them to improve their chants and be more creative when celebrating. Between laughter and genuine anger, the Argentine made it clear that the World Cup ended on the pitch, but the rivalry is only just beginning in the paddock.
