An ultrasound at 17 weeks of pregnancy set off alarm bells for Casey and Jonathan in the United States. Their baby had complex gastroschisis, a condition in which the intestines grow outside the body.

The danger was enormous because the abdominal opening was closing and compressing her organs. “Her internal and external organs were swelling”, the father recalled.
To save her, doctors at Texas Children’s Hospital proposed an unusual plan in June 2025: inject Botox into the uterus to relax the muscles and widen the opening. Although at first they saw no changes, “the Botox had a delayed effect, but it did help her”, the mother said.

Thanks to this, little Noel gained nine key weeks of growth and was born in August. After going through surgery and defying the prognosis, she is now ten months old, eagerly eats solids, and is completely healthy. A true miracle!
