Kaya Scodelario can’t stand soup. And she said so bluntly on the Off Menu podcast, in front of hosts Ed Gamble and James Acaster: “You can’t chew it, it’s not food”. They laughed, but behind the joke was something much sweeter.
The Brazilian-British actress, known for playing Susie Glass in Netflix’s The Gentlemen, explained that for her, cooking isn’t just a chore; it’s her way of showing love. “I’m a feeder”, she confessed, and described how her ideal menu blends her two roots: pão de queijo, rodizio, cauliflower cheese, and a sticky toffee pudding that sounds like a hug served in a deep dish.
The clip was posted in August 2026, just as Kaya was promoting the premiere of the series’ second season on September 3. And although everyone is talking about her aversion to soup, what really lingered was that simple idea: for her, cooking for someone is the most honest way of telling them that she loves them.
