“I’m ashamed to say it, but because she came from Cuba, I thought she was an unsophisticated young woman”, she said.

Jamie Lee Curtis said it unfiltered in Elle magazine: before meeting Ana de Armas on the set of ‘Knives Out’ in 2019, she thought the Cuban actress was ‘unsophisticated and inexperienced’ solely because of her background.

Just a few weeks of filming were enough for that idea to completely collapse. Curtis, who played the millionaire matriarch while De Armas brought an immigrant nurse to life, discovered a curious, dedicated co-star full of questions. The surprise was so great that she did something few would expect: she called Steven Spielberg to recommend her as María in ‘West Side Story’.

Today, that confession continues to circulate on social media, dividing those who value her honesty and those who question the prejudice based on origin. 🎬✨
