The company Calbee will begin selling its snack bags in black and white, a change that will affect the brand’s 14 most popular products, according to Japanese media reports.
Calbee’s vice spokesperson said that “they are working to understand the situation, since Japan gets 40 % of its oil from the Middle East”, which is a key component for color printing ink. However, the Tokyo government denies any shortage.
Despite the change, the company argued that the “product remains the same”, so they hope not to lose their most loyal customers, since they export their products to America, China, and Australia.
