A young Japanese woman named Konomi left the internet speechless after meeting Myungkyun through a dating app. Shortly after they started dating, she discovered that he was carrying a debt of 400 million won — around $300,000.
Instead of running away, she saw the situation as a unique challenge and admitted that “if the two of us managed to pay this off together, it would be truly legendary.” She also explained, “I took responsibility for the debt as if it were my own, and I never blamed him for it.”
Without financial help from their parents, the couple decided to face the problem on their own. Konomi worked tirelessly at supermarkets while attending university in order to help pay off the debt as quickly as possible. She even continued working late into the night after exhausting days of studying.
According to her, “that debt was never going to last forever,” so she chose to sacrifice and struggle from the very beginning in order to build a peaceful future together.
