Jessica Finley, a school counselor and coach in North Carolina, was sentenced to 28 to 40 years in prison after it was revealed she used her office to abuse a 14-year-old student who had originally sought her help for anxiety.

The manipulation was so deep that Finley—dubbed a “monster” by the victim’s family—promised to leave her husband and children to start a life with the minor.

The case came to light when the parents discovered text messages where the counselor planned encounters and used emotional blackmail, threatening to take her own life if the teenager tried to pull away.

Amid sobs and apologies that the family deemed insufficient, Finley heard the sentence for betraying the trust of someone who desperately needed her guidance. ⚖️
