Slater Jones, owner of Jones Jewelry Co. in Alabama, lost his eye due to a parasitic infection called ocular toxoplasmosis.

He could have used a standard glass prosthesis, but instead, he chose something only a jeweler would think of: a 2-carat diamond.

Together with an ocular prosthetics specialist, Jones created a custom artificial eye with a real diamond embedded in the center, right where the iris is.

As for why he made this decision, the jewelry store owner explained that he wanted to turn a difficult situation into something that truly represented him.
