Jimin, a member of BTS, became embroiled in controversy after photographs supposedly “unedited” from his recent appearance for Dior in Paris began circulating online.
The images were used to compare him with the photographs the singer posted on his Instagram account, implying that Jimin had heavily retouched his face to look much more perfect.
But ARMY decided to investigate.
When searching for the original photographs from the event, fans ended up at Getty Images, where they found records of the same moment and event, which took place on June 24, 2026, during the Dior Homme presentation at Paris Fashion Week.
And that was when the detail that completely changed the story emerged.
The photographs that had begun circulating as supposedly real images of Jimin did not match Getty’s original photographs. When comparing them, fans detected modifications to his face and other details of his appearance.
In other words, the images used to try to prove that Jimin supposedly looked much worse may also have been manipulated.
Getty’s original photographs show that Jimin does indeed look different from the perfectly retouched images he posted on Instagram, but he doesn’t look like the photographs that began circulating to attack him either.
The investigation by his own fans thus revealed a second level of editing: first there were the retouched Instagram photographs and, apparently, other manipulated images later appeared to make it seem that this was his true appearance.
What began as an attempt to show the singer’s supposed “true face” ended up becoming something else:
ARMY searched for the original photos to verify the accusation and ended up discovering that the images used to attack him were not as original as they appeared either.
