The 74-year-old actor arrived at the premiere of Digger, Alejandro González Iñárritu’s film starring Tom Cruise, wearing a black suit, a striped shirt and a gray tie. By his side was his wife, Anna Beth, in a long burgundy dress. According to reports, he plays the president of the United States in the film.
But the scene-stealer wasn’t the movie—it was him. The man from The Big Lebowski, Roseanne and The Flintstones once weighed close to 200 kilos at his heaviest, and that red carpet showed a Goodman who was nearly 100 kilos lighter.
The story didn’t start yesterday. Everything changed in 2007, when he gave up sugar and alcohol, and since then he has trained six days a week with Mackie Shilstone, the same trainer as Serena Williams. His method: a Mediterranean diet, boxing and walks with his dogs. In 2023, he summed it up this way: “Basically, it was just controlling portions and saying, ‘I don’t need this.’ I was stuffing it all in. I don’t want to be an example for anyone”.
