They had to take him out of his arms. That is what is known about the last minutes of Jett Travolta, John’s eldest son, who died on January 2, 2009 at a Bahamas resort after suffering a severe seizure. He was 16 years old. His father gave him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation until his lawyer, Michael Ossi, had to physically separate him from the boy’s body. 💔

In 2014, Travolta confessed with a coldness that chilled his interviewers: “Life no longer interested me. I didn’t want to wake up.” Eleven years later, in 2020, he also lost his wife Kelly Preston —57 years old, breast cancer— after two years of battle that the couple kept completely secret until the end.

Now, at 72 years old, Travolta arrived at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival with something no one expected: his directorial debut. The film is called ‘Propeller One-Way Night Coach’, runs 61 minutes, has been available on Apple TV+ since May 29, and is dedicated to Jett, to Kelly, and to his entire family. His daughter Ella Bleu, 26 years old, appears in it. In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, he said something many will not fully understand: “I am not made to remain absorbed in darkness.” 🎬
