Jordan Peele took the stage at the DGA Awards in 2018 to receive the award for best first-time director for ‘Get Out’. And instead of simply thanking his team, he decided to tell the most absurd anecdote of his career.
He had been offered the chance to voice ‘Poop’, the poop emoji, in The Emoji Movie. His first reaction was an emphatic no to his agent, considering the proposal degrading and absurd. But he still spent the whole night thinking about it. By morning, he was curious: he called to ask how much they would pay him, but he was too late. The role had already been given to none other than Sir Patrick Stewart.

“I said: to hell with this”, Peele said with a laugh, and that was the end of his acting ambitions. Weeks later, he won the Oscar for best original screenplay. Sometimes losing a poop role turns out to be the best move of your life 💩🏆
