A family lunch was recorded forever. In the video, the father of Josefa Sáez, a 22-year-old Chilean influencer, offers a piece of sashimi covered in wasabi to her Italian Mastiff. The dog drools nonstop, uncomfortable, while everyone around seems to find it funny.
The criticism was quick to come. Veterinarians explained that wasabi can cause a dog gastroenteritis, acute pancreatitis, and severe irritation of the gastric mucosa. Nothing trivial for an animal that did not choose to be there. Sáez responded with an apology video: she said she was not present, that her father ‘didn’t do it on purpose,’ and that it was all an innocent mistake.
The response did not calm anyone down. Old videos of her resurfaced in which she talked about operating on her parrot’s wings so it would not fly, and the pressure reached Falabella, one of the brands that supports her, which had to limit comments on its social media.
