Joseph Williams was born in Illinois without a jaw, due to a condition called otofacial syndrome. 🥺 He was a twin, but his brother did not survive birth. He underwent multiple surgeries from infancy, has a tracheostomy to breathe, and must blend his food to be fed through a tube.
At age two, he was taught sign language. Today, he also uses his phone to communicate through text-to-speech. At work, he met Vania, who at first approached him timidly, out of pure respect. Over time, she stopped seeing his face and began to see, in her own words, “his spirit, his personality”.
They became friends before admitting what they felt. They married in 2020, and since then they have faced stares, photos taken without permission, and people who doubt their love. They, however, remain together, proving that real love needs no explanations. ❤️
