Sunshine Burton was not willing to downplay what her son had done. Security camera footage showed the boy repeatedly hitting the family’s kitten.
The animal, only 4 months old, had been left in a pitiful state: it could neither walk nor eat. Furious, the mother called her son over and gave him a blunt order: to smash his own PlayStation 5, his basketball hoop, and other electronic devices in front of the camera she was holding, and he destroyed his belongings.
Then, Sunshine forced him to pick up the broken pieces and throw them in the trash. “If you have anger issues, we’re dealing with them today,” she told him.
The video went viral, and reactions were immediate, with some applauding her firmness and others criticizing her, but no one could argue that her message was clear: animal abuse does not go unpunished.
