Kate Namanda saw him for the first time and something clicked. It wasn’t money — Godfrey Baguma was never rich. It wasn’t pity. It was something harder to explain: honesty, genuineness, the feeling of being in front of someone who doesn’t deceive you. 😌

Baguma, a Ugandan born in 1973 and known as ‘Ssebabi’ (which in his language literally means “the ugliest of them all”), won in 2002 a contest no one would choose to win. A medical condition deformed his head from a young age, and the whole world made sure to remind him of it. Kate’s family flatly rejected him. She defied them anyway. They had four children before officially marrying in 2013, and today they have six together — eight in total if you count the two Godfrey had in a first marriage. 👨👩👧👦

In July 2024, Kate spoke publicly from Mbarara, Uganda, and was direct: she chose that man and would choose him again. Twenty-five years later, that answer is still the same. Sometimes the truest love arrives exactly where no one expected it. ❤️
