Keanu Reeves is being harshly criticized after coming to the defense of director Carl Rinsch, convicted of defrauding Netflix out of 11 million dollars. 😱

“I do not know the details of this case, but I wanted to write on Carl’s behalf in the hope that there may be some clemency and mercy”, Reeves said in a letter to the court.

Although he acknowledged that he does not know the details of what happened, his words caused annoyance among fans who questioned why he was defending someone accused of spending millions of dollars from Netflix on personal luxuries such as five Rolls-Royces, a Ferrari, and extremely expensive watches.

“Why is he asking for clemency for a scammer?”, wrote one user on X, while another said: “Why should this scammer be shown clemency for stealing millions of dollars that could have been allocated to any other personal project that actually would have produced results?”.

After the controversy, Reeves’s representatives clarified that the actor is not seeking to justify what happened, but rather to support an old colleague on a human level. 👀
